BIO

Maggie Hernández is an abstract artist with a passion for strong color and movement. She is an intuitive painter whose images are highly influenced by her immediate surroundings. The intention in her work is to visually capture a moment in time. These moments often reflect the power of untamed emotion and color; a break from socially imposed neutrality. “My paintings offer an opportunity to connect with the part of us that wants to exclaim, rejoice, celebrate, and fight with reckless abandon and in a manner that may be received without judgment. It is about the importance of honest, human communication; a place for us to learn to receive without attachment, and to relate without fear of defensive reactions.”
Maggie Hernández lives and works in New York City and studied fine art at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Hunter College, New York. Her work is published in F.I.T.'s Icon 1996 and was featured in BAAD! Ass Women 2002 for the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance. Her work is privately collected in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Georgia, Florida, Montana, Chicago, Colorado, Washington State, and California & has recently been acquired by Citi for the Office of the CEO, Vikram Pandit.
